Our Vision
We believe in the paying forward of privileges and recognise this as our responsibility in a world of growing inequalities. We understand that people who are forced to migrate and are displaced from their home carry no fault in what they are going through. This group of people often find themselves facing stigmatisation, lack of information and discrimination by German and European authorities. Since our call-to-action in late February of 2022, we have done our best to offer our solidarity as if to a friend, a family member, a guest. We have not held back on efforts and expenses to make everyone involved as comfortable and welcomed as possible.
Bridges over Borders is closely connected to various stakeholders within Berlin's cultural scene and beyond, and we could not be more grateful about the support we have gotten through these networks so far. Without the generosity of the art world, contacts in fashion, music industry as well as diverse media outlets, we could not have accomplished this much in the short time we've had. We see this as a great chance to politicise cultural spaces that are too often indifferent or unaware of the issues of migrant justice.
With the developments in global geopolitics and climate change/ecological collapse, it is clear to us that the refugee movement will become even more prominent in the future.
Our work aims to bridge the gap between the difficulties of people seeking refuge in Berlin and Germany and the existing and potential support structures of public and private institutions to create a more just, sensible and welcoming mindset in our city.
Let us build Bridges over Borders!
