What we do
-
Accomodation
We criticise the centralised accommodation of refugees in camps, which stigmatises and excludes people and too often puts them in harms way. Similarly, refugees face many obstacles in finding affordable housing in an already tense housing market in Berlin.
Since July 2022, BoB administers two long-term accommodations hosting a total of 14 people.
Additionally, we were able to arrange several other long-term apartments for families and individuals.
-
Advocacy
Diaspora and migrant organisations as well as local organisations supporting so-called “Third Country Nationals” from Ukraine have been on the forefront of combatting unjust treatment and discriminatory practices by local authorities. BoB works with a wide and growing network of civil society organisations, grassroots collectives, self-organised migrant and refugee groups as well as state recognised institutions, to continuously advocate for equal treatment, chances and improved mobility for everyone facing forced migration.
-
Educational & Professional Prospects
BoB works together with individuals by referring language courses, collaborating with language schools, outlining possibilities within the german educational landscape and offering support for applications to apprenticeships and universities.
From a professional standpoint, BoB supports with the accreditation of foreign qualifications and degrees, job research and through referring job opportunities.
-
Social Care
Together with social workers and dedicated volunteers we assist with navigating everyday life in Germany. Whether it is finding a daycare spot for the youngest, a suitable doctor, translating a document or finding new activities to get to know Berlin and its people - we are by your side.
